DoorStop X Firewall 2.2 |
 |
The DoorStop X Firewall 2.2 is an upgrade to our easy-to-use personal firewall (a part of our DoorStop X Security Suite), mainly adding support for Apple's new Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5) operating system. The upgrade is free for anyone who purchased DoorStop X in 2007. Recently added features of the DoorStop X Firewall include:
- Setup Assistant helps you protect your Mac's services in the safest way possible. Especially useful for learning about and protecting Leopard's new services.
- "Location" sets let you define different protection settings and preferences for different network environments.
|
- Logging options can be defined on a service-by-service basis.
|
- The firewall's log file can be archived on a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis, or when it gets over a certain size (requires Mac OS X 10.4.6 or later).
- Integrated with our security blog, isfym.com and Top 10 list, as well as new versions of our book, "Internet Security for Your Macintosh: A Guide for the Rest of Us" and our Who's There? Firewall Advisor.
- Service definitions can now contain arbitrary lists of ports, all of which are protected together.
- Specific protection information for built-in services, like File and Printer Sharing, can now be edited or removed entirely.
- DoorStop X now disables IPv6 by default, but can be set to allow IPv6 if desired.
- Updated service names and ports.
- Bug fixes.
DoorStop was the first Macintosh firewall, for Mac OS 8.1 in 1998. Open Door has been shipping security products since that time. We know how to help you make your Macintosh secure on the Internet.
